IV, Suite 150, Raleigh, North Carolina, United States P os ition Type In t ern W h a t It Takes O p en to undergraduate students interested in gaining hands-on practical experience in the construction field with a specialization in Virtual Building practices and Digital Technologies. Q u alified applicants will assist our VDC and project teams through all phases of a project—from initiation through turnover.
A s s ignments include office and job site; relocation to a remote-sites may be required. Tr a nsportation is required. Wo r k periods are 10-12 weeks; 40 hours/week.

Job Description R e porting Relationship: Depending on the work assignment, interns will report to a VDC Manager, Project Manager, Superintendent, or VDC Engineer. You may be assigned to the office, jobsite or mix of both. T a sks Assigned: Yo u will be learning how technology enhances construction processes in addition to technical aspects of the project both in the field and in the office.
Your experience will include some or all the following: V D C- Specific Tasks 3 D Modeling to support various use cases such as: Si t e Logistics Planning 3D printing applications Mi x ed media such as Virtual Reality, Augmented or Mixed Reality Vi r tual Mock-ups Ex i sting Conditions Documentation Re n dering and animations to support project visualization Cr e ating phasing and 4D scheduling animations in different mediums 5D Model Quantity Takeoffs As s isting with Reality Capture and Laser Scanning As s isting with a Project’s Virtual Building Program to support 3D coordination of specific trade partners’ work prior to installation Wo r king closely with Architect, Engineers and Owners to mitigate construction conflicts uncovered during the Virtual Building Process Su p porting Prefabrication and Offsite construction practices Us i ng a total station to support digital layout Cr e ating composite drawings associated with the Virtual Building Program to support submittal and contract requirements De v eloping 3D as-built deliverables As s isting with Integrated Digital Turnover and the development of digital twins G e n eral Construction Tasks: W r i ting RFIs (Request for information) to support the Virtual Building Program Re s ponding to subcontractor RFIs In t erfacing with subcontractors At t ending weekly meetings including but not limited to OAC, Virtual Building, Subcontractor and Team As s ist with reviewing construction documents & specifications As s isting with reviewing all document revisions & clarifications As s isting with quality control & safety Pu n chlist & project closeout Co o perating & working with field project management An d any other duties that may be assigned R e q uired Skills T ec hnical Capabilities Y o u should be familiar with the following software: Microsoft Word, Excel, & PowerPoint; Sketchup and Autodesk CAD, Revit, & Navisworks Manage.
