About the role
Job Description Are you a driven, student journalist eager to work in an award-winning newsroom before your senior year? The Wall Street Journal Social Video internship offers an unparalleled opportunity for college juniors to gain practical work experience in our award-winning newsrooms in New York with mentorship and tailored training sessions. Graduate students enrolled in a degree program by the Final date to receive applications – October 31 – who are returning to school in the fall are also eligible to apply.
Graduating seniors should apply to WSJ News Associates. You will Work with our team to produce vertical videos for platforms such as Instagram, Tik Tok and Linked In. Be involved in all steps of production: conceptualization, reporting, scripting, shooting and editing.
This team works directly with reporters and editors around the newsroom, as well as our video team to create engaging short, social-first breaking news and original videos. You have
Experience with video editing software, including Premiere Pro, After Effects, Adobe InDesign and/or other relevant tools. Animation skills are a plus, and so is comfort being on-camera. A deep knowledge of video-driven social platforms.
Completed at least one prior journalism internship with another professional media organization or published exceptional work with a campus news outlet or as a freelancer. We are looking for ambitious students who think foremost about the audience and are able to work independently under deadline pressure. You don’t need to be a business or economics expert, but a commitment to high journalistic standards and excellent video editing skills are a must.
Internship timing 10 weeks between June and August. Only finalists will be contacted. We will review applications on a rolling basis and strive to make selections by the end of January.
