Weekend Respite Overnight Counselor (Allyn Campus)

Weekend work opportunities in Greater Cincinnati are available at Stepping Stones' 47-acre Camp Allyn location in Batavia.

The Overnight Weekend Respite program hosts teens and adults with disabilities for two-day retreats where they build independence and socialize with their peers. To support participants in having an enriching program experience and ensure safety, we are hiring Overnight Respite Counselors to be paired with a cabin throughout their stay.

Overnight Respite Counselors lead groups of participants in art, nature and other recreation activities in the daytime. In the evenings, everyone comes together for dances, talent shows, holiday celebrations and other program events.

The live-in, Overnight Respites positions accommodate staff with lodging and meals. The team arrives on Friday afternoon at 5 pm to stay and work through ~3:30 pm.

WHEN WILL YOU BE WORKING

• There are a total of fifteen Overnight Weekend Respite sessions spanning throughout the Fall 2024 — Spring 2025 school-year
• Friday afternoon at 5:00 pm – Sunday afternoon at 3:30 pm

GAIN EXPERIENCE IN:

• Leading adaptive activities for individuals with autism, Down syndrome and other disabilities
• Utilizing various communication skills — i.e. ASL, visual and devices
• State and local documentation — reporting progress on participants' personal goals
• Leading participants and volunteers while navigating an activity schedule
• Providing an inclusive space that supports participant needs
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• First Aid & CPR Certification at no cost to you

WORK REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be age 18 or above with a high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to successfully complete all background check requirements
• Ability to complete all online and in-person trainings
• Ability to lift up to 50 LBs per day
