Internships
Kickstart your career with a hands-on internship where you can make a real difference.
We offer internships for the spring, fall and summer semesters with the opportunity to participate directly in our programming, fundraising and organizing efforts. Interns will gain exposure to the inner workings of a women’s advocacy organization and play an important role in planning and implementing actions and events. If you are passionate about women’s rights or want experience in the nonprofit sector, then this internship is for you!
We have two internship tracks
Women’s Rights
Interns will gain valuable experience in grassroots activism, assisting with campaigns, programs and actions to advocate for the women and girls of New York.
Hours: 12-16 hours per week in Fall & Spring; 3-4 days a week for 4 weeks in Summer Pay: Stipend Location: Manhattan

Responsibilities
Women’s Rights
- Manage social media accounts
- Write and update website content for campaigns, actions, news and events
- Help organize and participate in rallies, protests and special events
- Conduct policy research and draft talking points
- Design outreach and weekly communications
- Provide information and referrals over the phone to women in need
- Assist with donor research, prospecting and other development efforts
- Provide administrative support to staff as needed
Requirements
We are seeking highly motivated undergraduate or graduate students who display the following:
- Professional and responsible demeanor
- Commitment to NOW’s mission and advocacy for women’s rights
- Ability to work independently and see projects through to completion
- Detail-oriented and ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines
- Excellent research, writing and communication skills (web writing experience is highly desirable)
- Experience using social media (for professional purposes is desirable)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (google docs, graphic design and video editing skills are a plus)
