2027 Summer Associate

Through our Summer Associate program, Crag provides opportunities for law students to gain hands-on experience working at a public interest environmental law center. Law students work one-on-one with Crag attorneys, gaining exposure to litigation, advocacy, engaging with clients, and legal research and writing for our active cases. Crag is hiring 2-3 law students for 2027 Summer Associate positions.

Ideal candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to environmental protection and social justice. The Summer Associates will assist one or more of our nine attorneys on litigation and advocacy projects involving federal and/or state environmental laws, including the National Environmental Policy Act, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, National Forest Management Act, state land use laws, environmental justice policy, and more. The work will involve conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, memoranda and/or correspondence, communicating with clients, and assisting the attorneys in preparing for argument in state and federal courts.

Summer Associates may also be involved with organizing client campaigns, outreach and education activities, site visits, and fieldwork. Our Summer Associate positions are full-time (40 hours/week) for a minimum of 10 weeks during the summer (May–August). Summer Associate positions are paid $20/hour for up to 400 hours.

Work study funding may also be available to qualifying candidates. The application period for the Summer Associate position is open until October 15th at 5pm. Applications will be reviewed beginning October 16th.
