About the Business Operations Fellow Position

Applications for the Fall 2026 Business Operations Fellow position are now closed. To stay updated on our ongoing fellowship opportunities, follow Monument Advocacy on LinkedIn.

Monument Advocacy is looking for a Business Operations Intern for Fall 2026. As any fast-growing business knows, the Operations Team is the glue that holds all the pieces together, so why not join us and learn how we make it all stick?

You’ll have a front row seat with executive leadership and teammates across the firm. You’ll sharpen your skills planning and attending fun events, learn what it takes to keep a growing team organized and on track, and get creative solving the many internal curveballs that inevitably pop up. Speaking of curveballs, you may even attend a Nats game!

In short, you’ll get an inside look at how a top-tier, bicoastal government relations and public affairs firm really runs, with plenty of hands-on experience along the way.

A little bit about us: Monument Advocacy works with a wide range of clients, such as Fortune 100 corporations, trade associations, and startup companies to help them engage effectively in today’s public policy environment. Monument advises clients on a variety of issue areas including homeland security, immigration and travel, technology and telecommunications, international trade, tax, energy, and health care.

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Assist with administrative tasks and office management (it can’t be all fun and games, right?)

  • Track inventory of pantry, supply closet and IT equipment (this is where your spreadsheet skills should come in handy) – Asset Panda experience is a plus
  • Organization of office supplies and storage (we prescribe to the KonMari Method™)
  • Support maintenance, mailing, shipping and receiving equipment
  • Complete off-site assignments for the firm (yay, field trips!)
  • Provide general support for office visitors
  • Potentially help the COO/CPO and CFO with random, but surprisingly interesting, Excel and other projects. Because who doesn’t love a little chaos?

Coordinate staff trainings, events, client meetings (getting closer to fun?)

  • Prep for internal firm-wide happy hours, a great excuse for everyone to stand around, eat snacks, and prove we can multitask
  • Assist with logistics for all firm events and meetings, yes, we are very fond of Monument-branded swag
  • Support event planning and management, with energy that occasionally channels a Will Ferrell movie
  • Order from and coordinate with event vendors, not to worry, we have some truly great ones

Assist the Operations Team with firm optimization projects (definitely getting closer on the fun meter)

  • Conduct research for various projects, because good decisions start with good intel
  • Prepare reports and memos for firm leadership, your words may travel far
  • Assist with expenses, for those especially motivated to truly learn how the sausage gets made
  • Support in-person and virtual after-hours events, yes, they’re actually fun
  • Help with firm lunches, happy hours, receptions, and holiday events, come hungry
  • Assist with political fundraisers, we’re bipartisan, so we play nice with everyone

Skills

  • Ability to move and handle office supplies and boxes weighing up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Sense of humor (we tried our best to demonstrate ours in this posting)
  • Strong spreadsheet enthusiast, we live by them here. Extra credit if you can turn data into something we proudly call “dashboards”
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (we do have a Teams channel dedicated solely to reality shows)
  • Love of details, it is simply the Ops way of life

Compensation, Schedule and Benefits

This is a temporary, full-time, nonexempt internship paying $18.40 per hour. The internship is expected to last up to four months during Fall 2026, with an anticipated schedule of approximately 40 hours per week. Occasional evening events may be required, and all working time will be paid in accordance with applicable law.

This temporary internship isn’t eligible for Monument’s company-sponsored health and welfare benefits.
