Job Summary:

Gain experience and exposure to practical engineering applications within the utility industry. Individuals normally work under close supervision and will perform a variety of functions and work on various projects, working with engineers and engineering associates.

Job Description:

A work day in this role includes, but is not limited to:

  • Assist Full Design personnel in day-to-day activities
  • Interface with external Customers to provide electric service.
  • Design electric distribution facilities and perform various engineering studies using computer-based systems.
  • Work as part of a cross-function Team to meet the needs of Customers.
  • Assist in outage restoration efforts as needed.
  • Work is approximately 50% in office and 50% out of office, year around.
  • Work assignment complexity and responsibility grows with tenure of student employees.
  • Performs other duties as directed by management.

Education requirements:

  • Seeking Electrical, Mechanical, and Civil engineering majors to work full time during the designated semesters. Other engineering majors may be considered.
  • Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student in a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree program (full-time or part-time), pursuing a degree in the relevant field outlined in the job description, and enrolled in sophomore year or beyond..
  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 (on a 4.0 scale), verified through an official transcript from the previous semester.

Job Requirements

  • Computer skills–- familiar with various databases, as well as Windows environment and Microsoft toolkit (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Must have good communication and Customer Service skills.

Work Conditions:

  • Office and Field work. Some situations might require the ability to work in adverse climate conditions and the physical nature of work may require walking long distances in uneven off-road environments. Some travel may be necessary.
