Electrical Engineer Intern

Heidelberg Materials is seeking an Electrical Engineer Intern to support our manufacturing operations. In this role, you will assist with troubleshooting and maintaining plant electrical systems, including motors, drives, and control panels. You will help collect and analyze equipment performance data, support reliability and preventative maintenance projects, and contribute to small design or upgrade initiatives.

Working closely with experienced engineers and technicians, you’ll gain hands-on exposure to industrial power distribution, PLCs, and automation while learning our safety-focused, sustainable production practices. Assist with troubleshooting and maintenance of plant electrical systems and equipment Support preventive and predictive maintenance activities and documentation Help analyze equipment performance data to improve reliability and uptime Assist in small electrical design, upgrade, and automation projects Participate in equipment inspections and safety checks Collaborate with engineers and technicians on root-cause analysis of failures Update drawings, schematics, and technical documentation as needed Follow all plant safety, environmental, and lockout/tagout procedures Industrial electrical systems Troubleshooting and maintenance Motor controls and VFDs PLC fundamentals Electrical schematics reading Power distribution basics Data collection and analysis Preventive maintenance Automation and controls Safety and lockout/tagout procedures Working toward a BS in Electrical Engineering or related field Basic knowledge of industrial electrical systems and safety practices Familiarity with three-phase power, motors, and drives Exposure to PLCs, automation, or control systems a plus OSHA or electrical safety training preferred
