At Novonesis, we use biology to transform how the world produces food, beverages, household products, renewable fuels, and more. As a Flow Cytometry intern, you will work with three of our departments responsible for the research, development, scale-up, and optimization of microbe products, processes, and technologies. Our teams are composed of scientists and researchers with diverse backgrounds that use a wide array of lab-, pilot-, and production-scale equipment, plus advanced data and digitalization tools, to develop and launch new products. We also collaborate with colleagues globally to take advantage of our combined knowledge in industrial microbiology.
About the Role
As a Flow Cytometry Intern, you will work alongside Scientists and Research Associates to develop and implement flow cytometry methods that provide valuable physiological insight for our fermentation experiments. Through this, you will gain exposure to the equipment and techniques and help us automate the workflow for rapid and robust measurement of several relevant phenotypes.
What you’ll Need to Be Successful
We are looking for students who are currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in:
- Engineering
- Biology
- Biochemistry
- Or a related technical discipline
Required Qualifications and Competencies
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Interest in fermentation, process equipment, sensors, and programming controls
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing to team objectives
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Sophomore standing or higher at the time of application
- Ability to arrange your own housing and transportation
Ways of Working / Working Conditions
- Full-time internship assignment lasting approximately 10 weeks
- Located on-site in Morrisville, NC
- Exposure to Research and Development, analytical equipment, fermentation equipment and controls
- Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) when in the laboratory
- Collaboration with cross-functional teams
Compensation & Benefits
Expected salary: $23/hr
