Ford Foundation Equity Initiative (FFEI) Internship Program at The Henry Ford is a cohort-based program that offers professional development, mentorship, and networking opportunities.

The Ford Foundation Equity Initiative Internship Program Overview and Time Commitment The FFEI Internship Program’s mission is to offer opportunities in museum work to emerging professionals who identify with historically marginalized groups and to invite our interns to think outside the box and explore their careers in new ways. Participants will engage in the program through various bi-weekly professional development workshops hosted on our Dearborn campus.

It is mandatory for participants to attend, and applicants should work with their leadership to ensure proper attendance. Workshops typically occur on Wednesdays during the work week. As part of your employment, we also have our interns participate in an end of cohort survey.

Note: All candidates interested in FFEI Internship roles must have Wednesdays available due to programmatic requirements of the internship. *The 15-week Winter 2027 internship runs January 25–May 7, 2027. Attendance at orientation on January 25 is mandatory.* The Marketing Project Management Intern will help the Creative Services and Marketing teams keep projects organized and moving forward. Working under the guidance of a project lead, the intern will track timelines, gather updates, coordinate meetings, and communicate with teams across the institution.

The internship offers practical experience with the people, tools, and processes involved in delivering marketing and design projects. This is a hybrid position, with most work performed remotely. Based on project needs, the intern may be required to work onsite at The Henry Ford's campus in Dearborn, MI.

Essential

Responsibilities Help coordinate multiple marketing and design projects, tracking tasks, deadlines, and next steps in Workfront Gather weekly status updates from team members and keep project information current Help document project scope, timelines, and potential risks, bringing changes or concerns to the project lead’s attention Organize and schedule team meetings, prepare materials, and document decisions and follow-up items Communicate project updates to internal partners with guidance from the project lead Contact external vendors, request quotes, and organize information needed for project decisions Review project progress and suggest ways to improve workflows and communication Learn and follow Creative Services project management processes and assist with updates to those processes Attend scheduled virtual meetings during Eastern Time business hours and respond to project communications in a timely manner Participate in required internship orientation and professional development activities

Qualifications Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college or university program in marketing, business, communications, project management, or a related field Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Ability to learn Workfront and other tools used to organize projects and files Availability on Wednesdays for required internship programming Ability to attend scheduled meetings during Eastern Time business hours and work onsite in Dearborn when required Special Skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when tracking multiple assignments and deadlines Clear written and verbal communication with team members and internal partners Ability to follow up on tasks, ask questions, and bring potential delays to the project lead’s attention Ability to work independently while staying connected with a collaborative virtual team Interest in how marketing and design projects move from request to completion Familiarity with cloud-based file storage, digital asset management systems, or project management tools is helpful but not required PHYSICAL/MENTAL/ENVIRONMENTAL Physical: Work is primarily performed at a computer. Other physical requirements are minimal or not applicable Mental: Requires organization, attention to detail, problem solving, and the ability to track several projects with different deadlines Environment: Work is primarily remote, with onsite work at The Henry Ford’s Dearborn campus based on project and internship program needs Internship Program

Compensation Interns are paid under the following paygrades: First year intern in school (undergraduate or trade): $17.00 First year intern with completed degree (undergraduate or trade): $18.00 Graduate school and postgraduates: $20.00 Applications will be accepted through November 20th, 2026.
