About the job

Organization Description The Benjamin Rush Institute (BRI) is a nonprofit organization that partners with medical students, physicians, and healthcare professionals to protect the doctor-patient relationship and promote healthcare freedom. Since 2009, BRI has engaged thousands of future and current medical professionals with education on free enterprise solutions to healthcare challenges and how to communicate these ideas in public debate. We pursue our mission by establishing chapters across the United States, organizing debates, lectures, and events, and providing resources that highlight the importance of physician autonomy and patient choice.

The ideal candidate is a student or someone early in their career who is interested in nonprofit operations, individual liberty, and health care (particularly free-market solutions to problems in American health care).

We are based in the Washington, D.C. area. Hybrid arrangements are available. Working in-person at our office in Alexandria, VA is preferred, at least early on, but not required.

The intern will work closely with BRI’s Director and have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of projects and day-to-day operations, including: Supporting general administrative and organizational operations Assisting with BRI programs, including podcasts, webinars, speaker events, and other programs that require scheduling and coordination Supporting communications efforts, with opportunities to work on creative projects, graphic design, writing, social media, and other communications work based on the intern’s interests and skills Assisting with health policy and other research projects Helping identify and connect with medical students and physicians interested in BRI’s mission
