Job Description:
This recruitment will be used to fill a part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Outreach Student Assistant: Extension FCH Physical Activity and Active Living for the Extension Family & Community Health program at Oregon State University (OSU).
The position exists to support Extension statewide physical activity initiatives and projects, including but not limited to the Better Bones & Balance®(BBB), Strong People and Walk With Ease (WWE) adult programs, and the Be Physically Active 2Day (BEPA 2.0) school-based program. These programs are coordinated statewide through the College of Health and OSU Extension Service located on the main Corvallis campus.
Most of the work is in an office setting but may include travelling off campus to support physical activity programming. Lifting, weights (generally less than 20 pounds) and standing for extended periods may be required from time to time. Travel is minimal but may occur when opportunities arise activities off campus in Corvallis and surrounding communities.
Position Duties:
The job entails the following in a general order of importance:
- Supporting research and outreach projects (25%)
- Communicating with Extension faculty and community stakeholders about PAAL programs and trainings (10%)
- Records and data up-keep, utilizing excel, Google docs, Qualtrics, or similar programs (15%)
- Coordinating and managing evaluation processes (15%)
- BBB, WWE and Strong People leader training coordination and execution (10%)
- General office duties such as mailing and printing, responding to emails, and making phone calls (10%)
- Drafting, editing and reviewing materials and website content (10%)
- Procurement, printing, and mailing (5%)

- Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
- Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
- Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
- High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
- Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
- Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term\*
- Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
- Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term\*
\*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (https://internationalservices.oregonstate.edu/) (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Required Qualifications
- Current student in a College of Health field or a similar field
- Available to work in-person during the 2026-27 School Year, summer availability desirable
- Self-directed and able to learn some needed skills on their own
- High level of organizational skills/time management
- Attention to detail a must
- Able to work well with computers: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience with research projects, data collection, and evaluation
- Comfortable engaging with the public to support engagement in PAAL programs
- Ability to creatively problem solve
- A strong commitment to diversity
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with aging adults
- Experience with survey development and data collection
- Experience working with survey software such as Microsoft Forms and Qualtrics
- Experience working with fitness instructors
- Experience in planning and executing workshop/conference events
Working Conditions/Schedule:
- Predominately office-based work located on the OSU campus.
- Occasional work off campus in community fitness setting, Extension sites, or community events.
- Some lifting (< 20 pounds) and periods of extended standing required.
