Publishing Internship

Open to All. Degree-Seeking Candidates Preferred:

This remote internship position is a one-year commitment of approximately 10 hours per week beginning in October 2026. Hours may be distributed unevenly depending on season and workflow. Interns will have the opportunity to work across Movement Research's two publications (*Critical Correspondence* and the *Movement Research Performance Journal*) as well as with the main office of Movement Research. The intern is required to attend weekly editorial team meetings and regular check-ins with the Media and Communications Manager (both virtual). A more detailed weekly schedule will be determined in collaboration with MR staff and the CC editorial team.

Intern responsibilities include:

• Manage audio files
• Transcribe/edit interviews and conversations
• Write captions and make Instagram posts every other week
• Assist with website maintenance
• Keep a calendar of events, interviews, and other timely matters
• Support marketing initiatives, advertising, and research
• Manage the *Critical Correspondence* and *Movement ResearchPerformance Journal e-*Newsletters & Instagram platforms
• Keep track of Movement Research recording devices as needed

The ideal candidate will have the following:

• An interest in engaging contemporary and experimental dance and/or performance work through language.
• Excellent communication skills to check in, respond, and confirm tasks weekly
• Detail-oriented and well organized with experience working in databases and content-generation
• Familiarity with web platforms such as wordpress, mailchimp, instagram
• Writing and editing skills, with a focus on interview editing and transcription skills
• Ability to work independently
• Audio and video editing skills greatly appreciated but not required.
• Investment in the mission and goals of the MR Publications

This internship is largely self-directed and the intern will work remotely. It's a good opportunity to gain experience in the field and hone editorial and critical thinking skills.

Mission and Goals of CC:

*Critical Correspondence (CC) is an artist-driven project of Movement Research that aims to activate, develop and increase the visibility of critical discourse on dance and movement-based performance work. We initiate conversations and writings to map the language surrounding current practices and to establish a dialogue between artists and others who are engaged with this work. We also host contributions from artists/writers traveling, working in different localities, or reporting from a particular working process.*

*Movement Research Performance Journal* is a publication created by and for artists, fostering the evolution of written and graphic languages that address current issues of dance and performance.
