JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

As a key member of the Project Management Oversight team, the Project Engineering Intern is responsible for supporting the management and coordination of all technical aspects of new power generation capital projects.

This role ensures that engineering is aligned with corporate goals and is complete, accurate and constructible for all elements of a project's scope. The position promotes a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, best-practice implementation, and lessons-learned application.Because this role directly supports the execution of new power generation assets, demonstrated and relevant experience in power-generation — such as development, engineering, design, construction, or operations is essential.

The Project Engineering Intern works closely with multiple Project Managers and other Project Engineers as a technical resource during the execution phase and coordinates with cross-functional teams while building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working in a team environment to assist in day-to-day activities, including but not limited to:

• Promotes safe behavior, in accordance with Company expectations, and adherence to the safety rules on all projects.
• Identifies engineered safety controls and hazard removal during engineering design and coach to safe practices in the field.
• Reviews instrumentation and electrical drawings, electrical studies, control logic, and graphics to ensure compliance with specifications and operational requirements
• Supports cross-functional team consisting of internal Subject Matter Experts, Owners Engineers, EPC Contractors, and Technical Consultants from Engineering, Construction, Commissioning and Closeout.
• Ensures documentation of engineering and construction quality is adequately captured to support audit and prudency review.
• Supports Owner team in writing official Records of Decision to capture prudency of major project decisions.
• Performs/Manages the review of engineering design to assure compliance with the contract, permits, codes, and utility standards while ensuring design supports the strategic, operational and maintenance goals of the project.
• Supports change management process for any potential design changes.
• Participates in the equipment inspection activities as agreed with the Contractor.
• Supports Owner review and signoff of System Turnover packages from Construction to Start-up and from EPC to Owner.
• Supports commissioning and ensures performance, reliability and emissions testing are completed per contract.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Candidates must be actively enrolled and pursuing a bachelors, masters or doctorate degree in Engineering, Engineering Technologies, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline from a four-year institution.
• At minimum, candidates must be classified as a rising junior or beyond at the time of hire.
• Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 (on a 4.0 scale), verified through an official transcript from the previous semester.
