Student Nurse Internship

Begin your nursing RN career with Fairview’s student nurse internship program!

Our Student Nurse Internship program provides individualized educational experience at one of our Fairview hospitals located in Minnesota. This paid learner program is tailored to meet your nursing career goals. As a nurse intern, you will be mentored one-on-one by registered nurses to gain valuable hands-on nursing experience. Our program provides opportunities to enhance your technical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills in an acute care or ambulatory setting.

Program requirements

• Desire to join the Fairview team as an RN upon graduation.
• Will complete junior year from an accredited baccalaureate (BSN/BAN) nursing program by the start of the nurse internship.
• Completed one semester of nursing clinicals by start of this internship
• Prefer a 3.0 GPA
• Able to work at least 60-64 hours per pay period (every two weeks)
• Will work a scheduled shift/block which could be Day, D/E, Evening, D/N or Nights and Weekend rotation.
• Able to work 10 weeks during the summer, beginning late May to early August
• Able to attend the first week of group Nurse Intern orientation- typically the end of May
• Must have current BLS, if offered/accept this intern job
• Prefer patient care work experience (cna, pca, hha, resident assistant, pct)

Selected applicants must enroll in a Minnesota college or university internship course for the timeframe they are working as Nurse Intern at Fairview and are responsible for any associated tuition costs or fees.

The Minnesota Board of Nursing, through the Nurse Practice Act regulations, has approved the skills list from which nursing students in paid internship programs can practice with direct supervision of RN mentors.
