About the role

The Artistic Intern will support the Artistic team across a range of creative and administrative initiatives. Responsibilities may include assisting with script review, supporting casting processes, coordinating artist logistics, and contributing to various artistic development projects. This role offers a broad introduction to the inner workings of a regional theater’s artistic department and the collaborative processes behind bringing productions to life.

Internship Duties:

  • Reading and evaluating play submissions and scripts in consideration for future programming
  • Providing administrative support for artistic projects and department operations
  • Observing rehearsals or artistic meetings as available and appropriate
  • Supporting the creation of materials for internal or external communications (e.g., program notes, dramaturgy packets, or season prep documents)

Internship Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, with a disposition for flexibility and customer service experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and other relevant software programs or the willingness to learn.
  • Interest in theater-making and the artistic processes behind productions
  • Attention to detail and ability to stay organized while managing multiple tasks
  • Comfort with handling confidential or sensitive information professionally
  • Willingness to take initiative and work both independently and collaboratively
  • Familiarity with contemporary theater and/or new play development is a plus
  • Ability to demonstrate and support the Theater’s racial justice efforts by applying anti-racist tools and practices to individual and departmental processes and systems, and to contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and engagement with persons of all cultures, identities, and backgrounds (for more information see www.ppt.org/racialjustice)

Duration: Start immediately and continue through mid-December 2025, with the possibility of extending through the end of May 2026.

Hours: 10-15 hours per week with flexibility around your academic schedule. Combination of in-office and remote work.
