About the role

Pittsburgh Public Theater is now accepting applications for Fall Internships. We’re looking for passionate and driven university students in the Pittsburgh area with an interest in the arts to join our team.

Duration: Start immediately and continue through mid-December 2025, with the possibility of extending through the end of May 2026. Hours: 10-15 hours per week with flexibility around your academic schedule. Combination of in-office and remote work. Compensation: This is an unpaid position. However, students may be eligible to earn college credit, depending on their institution’s requirements.

Pittsburgh Public Theater is seeking a Company Management Intern who will work closely with the Company Manager to provide logistical support and coordination of guest artist travel and housing. The Company Management Intern should be well-organized and willing to assist wherever possible.

Internship Duties:

  • Provide support for daily company operations, including data entry, scheduling, expense tracking, and communication with guest artists, cast, and production staff.
  • Assist on special projects, including the setup of a new inventory space, the taking of inventory for both consumable and non-consumable housing goods, and the implementation of apartment upgrades.
  • Assist with the coordination of actor and designer travel and housing, including booking air travel, managing ground transportation for guest artists, and overseeing the completion of housing requests.
  • Assist with communications with company members, housing, and other external partners as directed by the company manager.
  • Share “on-call” duties for guest artists and Pittsburgh Public Theater activities, including opening/closing festivities, meeting vendors, driving guest artists, and responding to emergency calls.
  • Assist with the maintenance of company vehicles and rentals, including cleaning and the arrangement of mechanical repairs.

Internship Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, with a disposition for flexibility and customer service experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and other relevant software programs or the willingness to learn.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Comfort with high-pressure, fast-paced situations Ability to model and practice the values of artistic excellence, joyful collaboration, and resolute respect – especially when faced with challenges – through constructive, clear, solution-focused communication with fellow staff, supervisors, guest artists, and any other individual involved in the work at hand
  • Possess an appreciation of the arts and passion for advancing the theater's mission

Physical Requirements

  • May need to occasionally move boxes weight up to 40 pounds with or without the assistance of a hand truck.
