About the role
Pittsburgh Public Theater is seeking a creative, self-motivated Multimedia Production Intern to support the oversight and production of Participation: A True Public Podcast, our podcast exploring the evolving role of regional theaters today. The intern will shape and share stories of our artists, staff, and community, while gaining hands-on experience in audio production, content creation, and nonprofit arts communication. Over the course of the internship, the Multimedia Production Intern will lead the creation of podcast episodes for Participation: A True Public Podcast, capturing conversations about the future of theater and spotlighting internal voices. The intern will help define, produce, and distribute content across platforms that deepens engagement and archives institutional memory. This position reports to the Director of Marketing & Communications.
Internship Duties
- Produce a 5-episode podcast series from planning to publishing
- Conduct interviews with artists, administrators, and guests
- Collaborate with editor for final approval
- Manage podcast assets (audio files, transcripts, metadata)
- Collaborate with marketing team for branding, distribution, and promotion
- Maintain a clear editorial calendar and track workflow progress
- Other tasks as required
Internship Requirements
- Experience with audio recording and editing software (e.g., Audacity, Adobe Audition, GarageBand)
- Familiarity with digital content tools (Google Workspace, Canva, podcast platforms a plus)
- Exposure and experience with additional technology tools, including: Microsoft 365, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Audition, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Aero, Coding Languages (Python, R, SQL)
- Strong writing, communication, and storytelling skills
- Ability to manage time and deadlines independently
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfort with high-pressure, fast-paced situations.
- Possess an appreciation of the arts and passion for advancing the theater's mission
- Ability to demonstrate and support the Theater’s racial justice efforts by applying anti-racist tools and practices to individual and departmental processes and systems, and to contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and engagement with persons of all cultures, identities, and backgrounds (for more information see www.ppt.org/racialjustice)
