About the role

Introduction

NourishCap.com creates educational, documentary, scientific, and artistic shows about health, mind, and mushrooms. Our mission is to expand public embrace of culinary, functional, and practical mushrooms by creating educational content and offering vetted products. By interning with us, you get practical training and real-world projects related to applying your major.

Over the years, we have trained hundreds of interns! We took the time to write this thorough internship description because it answers most of the questions people have and is a preview to how we provide much information throughout each internship. Read this entire description closely and take detailed notes because we quiz applicants about it during the interview process.

Project-based Learning: This team ensures the quality of NourishCap's mushroom species database and writes supporting proposals and persuasive content, and in doing so, regularly meet with team members as well as the founder of our company. We will help grow awareness of NourishCap and our mission with mushrooms by developing clear, compelling materials that reach new customers, partners, and communities through our sales channels and outreach campaigns. Our aim is to do more than merely write certain proposals: we seek to eventually create a repeatable process for a successful writing methodology. Our purposes for participating include: 1) it is part of our mission to share the wonder of mushrooms with as many people as possible (see our “About” page), and 2) building awareness of mushrooms supports at least a portion of our broader efforts and is consistent with our primary line of business at NourishCap. This position is aligned with the Software 1.C Mushroom Species Database pipeline. Your training experience will be aligned with the activities of the company during the time of your internship, so while overarching training and responsibilities will be similar to what is described here, the projects and details of the experience will evolve over time.

Collaboration: Apply AI in a vibe-coding spirit for writing: use AI tools to draft, structure, and refine product content, iterating quickly rather than starting from scratch. As a form of collaboration, this role helps proofread and quality-check not only its own output but also output produced by every other position across the company, and it maintains clear documentation of its files, style choices, and projects so the next intern can continue the pipeline. Expect ongoing collaboration with the interns in all of the other positions.

The primary focus of this position is now the Software 1.C Mushroom Species Database pipeline. Importantly, you do NOT hand-write the database entries. Instead, alongside the interns from other departments, you are responsible for fact-checking, completeness, and the quality of writing of that software-generated content, ensuring the clearinghouse is accurate and trustworthy. Proposal and grant writing remains a secondary track. You also contribute to process improvement: your feedback and suggestions flow to the Software 1.C interns, who build them into permanent, mounting improvements to the pipeline. Like every position at NourishCap, you will use AI as "an intern to the intern," by directing, correcting, and teaching AI tools, because teaching the AI is one of the best ways for you to learn.

Training and Responsibilities May Include But Will Not Be Limited To

  • Participate in developing and arranging sections of a grant proposal, such as abstract, program budget, logic model framework, timeline, and evaluation plan in a powerful and persuasive way
  • Select photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material
  • Participate in a 100% remote environment alongside peers across the globe
  • Navigate diverse workspaces with varying time zones and cultural backgrounds while maintaining an inclusive and supportive environment
  • Build strong connections with other interns and staff people through networking, peer collaboration, and other weekly meetings while collaborating remotely.
  • Attend regular meetings to network and collaborate alongside other teams and departments, preventing isolation and facilitating collaboration

Notes: Think of this internship as an opportunity to apply the skills you’ve gained in the classroom to real-world situations, not as an introduction to skills or an alternative to classes. Also, look for us to give you the kind of real-world business context and feedback that professors generally cannot provide, not only about your specific skill area but (perhaps more importantly!) feedback from perspectiv
