About the role

Introduction

NourishCap.com creates educational, documentary, scientific, and artistic shows about health, mind, and mushrooms. Our mission is to expand public embrace of culinary, functional, and practical mushrooms by creating educational content and offering vetted products. By interning with us, you get practical training and real-world projects related to applying your major.

Over the years, we have trained hundreds of interns! We took the time to write this thorough internship description because it answers most of the questions people have and is a preview to how we provide much information throughout each internship. Read this entire description closely and take detailed notes because we quiz applicants about it during the interview process.

Project-based Learning: Interns on this team focus on writing that supports our database and public education efforts, producing clear documentation, data descriptions, and public-facing educational content for the Academy, the blog, and our mushroom database. This team will focus on building publicity and attention for our company, NourishCap. Our goal is to educate business leaders and the general public about mushrooms. We want them to be aware of our new techniques that may improve their marketing outcomes. This position will involve a wide range of activities and require both creativity and attention to detail. An important part of this position and all our positions is that people on this team will develop training for the processes and techniques that future interns will use. As such, on this team, you have the potential to make a wide impact on the mushroom world at the same time as making a lasting impact on our company. Your training experience will be aligned with the activities of the company during the time of your internship, so while overarching training and responsibilities will be similar to what is described here, the projects and details of the experience will evolve over time.

Collaboration: You will collaborate closely with our software team and other teams as the editorial and quality-assurance partner for our educational content pipeline. Your core focus is fact-checking, completeness, and writing quality of the educational articles and social copy that the pipeline produces, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and a consistent house style. You also contribute to process improvement: your editorial feedback and suggestions flow to the Software interns, who build them into permanent, mounting improvements to the pipeline. Like every position at NourishCap, you will use AI as "an intern to the intern," by directing, correcting, and teaching AI tools, because teaching the AI is one of the best ways for you to learn. You will also share broad responsibility for proofreading and quality assurance across content, and you maintain clear documentation of your files, style choices, and projects so the next intern can continue the pipeline. You may occasionally assist other departments as needs arise, and if your interests align more closely with a parallel role, we will help redirect you to the position that best fits your goals.

Training and Responsibilities May Include But Will Not Be Limited To

  • Write articles that we could publish on our website or via partner organizations
  • Write press releases about our main product, NourishCap.com
  • Build brand awareness for NourishCap by crafting content necessary for Search-Engine Optimization (SEO)
  • Determine goals and potential audience, write content using keywords affiliated with those goals and audience, and optimize it
  • Participate in a 100% remote environment alongside peers across the globe
  • Navigate diverse workspaces with varying time zones and cultural backgrounds while maintaining an inclusive and supportive environment
  • Build strong connections with other interns and staff people through networking, peer collaboration, and other weekly meetings while collaborating remotely.
  • Attend regular meetings to network and collaborate alongside other teams and departments, preventing isolation and facilitating collaboration

Notes: Think of this internship as an opportunity to apply the skills you’ve gained in the classroom to real-world situations, not as an introduction to skills or an alternative to classes. Also, look for us to give you the kind of real-world business context and feedback that professors generally cannot provide, not only about your specific skill area but (perhaps more importantly!) feedback from perspectives outside of your major, such as how various other aspects of the business drive needs and decisions for your projects. *This is by no means an ex
