About the role

Introduction

NourishCap.com creates educational, documentary, scientific, and artistic shows about health, mind, and mushrooms. Our mission is to expand public embrace of culinary, functional, and practical mushrooms by creating educational content and offering vetted products. By interning with us, you get practical training and real-world projects related to applying your major.

Over the years, we have trained hundreds of interns! We took the time to write this thorough internship description because it answers most of the questions people have and is a preview to how we provide much information throughout each internship. Read this entire description closely and take detailed notes because we quiz applicants about it during the interview process.

Project-based Learning: For this position, you will brainstorm and then put into practice ideas for promoting NourishCap and our mission with mushrooms. This experience would be more than just creating one piece of content or running one campaign. Instead, it will be to design and implement repeatable methodologies that we could use across all our sales channels, including our website, farmers markets, distribution partners, and social selling. Specifically, we help more people discover the wonder of mushrooms and understand how to grow, cook, and enjoy them. Currently, many people are unfamiliar with the variety and benefits of fresh, locally grown mushrooms, so this project focuses on sharing that knowledge in a way that grows both awareness and sales. This project benefits our community, our local food system, and the broader mission of making mushrooms more accessible. This internship is cross-listed with the Technical Writing 1.C internship. Your training experience will be aligned with the activities of the company during the time of your internship, so while overarching training and responsibilities will be similar to what is described here, the projects and details of the experience will evolve over time.

Collaboration: The intern will segment consumer audiences, prioritize outreach, and design and test consumer sales approaches, then measure results. Apply AI in a vibe-coding spirit: use AI tools to prototype queries, dashboards, and lightweight automations against that data, iterating quickly rather than building from scratch. As a form of collaboration, this role helps proofread and quality-check not only its own output but also output produced by every other position across the company, and it maintains clear documentation of its data sources, projects, and results so the next intern can continue the pipeline. Expect ongoing collaboration with the interns in all of the other positions.

Training and Responsibilities: May Include But Will Not Be Limited To

  • Perform extensive research into how we can best allocate our marketing and content resources across sales channels
  • Analyze marketing content designed to inspire curiosity about mushrooms and healthy eating
  • Learn how successful food and agriculture brands reach and grow their audiences
  • Create general advice and guidance on how to improve our marketing, such as strengthening our content and outreach campaigns
  • Collaborate with graphic designers to illustrate how this advice/guidance will look
  • Participate in a 100% remote environment alongside peers across the globe
  • Navigate diverse workplaces with varying time zones and cultural backgrounds while maintaining an inclusive and supportive environment
  • Build strong connections with other interns and staff people through networking, peer collaboration, and other weekly meetings while collaborating remotely.
  • Attend regular meetings to network and collaborate alongside other teams and departments, preventing isolation and facilitating collaboration

Notes: Think of this internship as an opportunity to apply the skills you've gained in the classroom to real-world situations, not as an introduction to skills or an alternative to classes. Also, look for us to give you the kind of real-world business context and feedback that professors generally cannot provide, not only about your specific skill area but (perhaps more importantly!) feedback from perspectives outside of your major, such as how various other aspects of the business drive needs and decisions for your projects. This is by no means an exhaustive list, but it indicates the many projects taking place. You might focus on some of these to the exclusion of others. Tasks and training will change according to business needs. Think of AI as your intern: if you guide it, you can learn a lot, because teaching is a great way to learn.
