Monument Advocacy seeks college-, post-graduate- or graduate-level candidates for a PUBLIC AFFAIRS AND DIGITAL INTERNSHIP based in downtown Washington, DC.
Monument is a nationally recognized consulting firm, focused on government relations, strategic communications, and public affairs. We maintain groundbreaking practices in numerous fields, including technology and innovation; sustainability; tax, trade, and economic policy; travel and immigration; defense and cybersecurity; healthcare; food, agriculture, energy, and more.
Interns will have significant opportunities to gain hands-on experience in public affairs, digital strategy, and strategic communications, supporting client campaigns and internal branding efforts across the firm.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Supporting the development of digital and social media content for clients and coalitions;
- Monitoring media coverage, social platforms, and digital trends related to client interests;
- Drafting and editing public affairs materials, including press materials, social copy, and client-facing content;
- Assisting with the design and production of graphics, presentations, and other visual materials;
- Supporting website updates, email campaigns, and digital outreach efforts;
- Tracking analytics and helping compile performance reports for client and internal campaigns; and,
- Assisting in business development proposals and research.
The goal of the internship program is to expose highly motivated pre- and early-career professionals to the everyday operations of a public affairs and digital communications practice. Interns will be given meaningful assignments in order to develop a range of skills including content creation and writing; personal development through inter-office communication and team-building skills; critical thinking and time management based on real-life deadlines; and a practical understanding of how digital strategy supports public affairs and government relations work.
A successful Intern will possess strong interpersonal skills, an interest in digital media and design, the ability to work well under pressure, and the desire to learn more about public affairs and strategic communications.
This internship is in-person.
This is a temporary, full-time, nonexempt internship paying $18.40 per hour. The internship is expected to last up to four months during Fall 2026, with an anticipated schedule of approximately 40 hours per week. Occasional evening events may be required, and all working time will be paid in accordance with applicable law.
This temporary internship isn’t eligible for Monument’s company-sponsored health and welfare benefits.
