Role Summary:
The School of Environment & Sustainability Student Assistant provides support to school faculty, staff, students, and visitors. The position helps ensure the efficient day-to-day operation of the school by assisting with school activities and spaces. The successful candidate demonstrates strong organizational skills, attention to detail, professionalism, confidentiality, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in an academic and professional environment.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide general support to the School of Environment & Sustainability and its faculty and staff.
- Monitor supply inventories and coordinate restocking as needed.
- Assist with preparation of school publications, displays, newsletters, websites, social media, and other communications/materials.
- Coordinate mail, deliveries, equipment requests, and other office logistics.
- Maintain confidentiality of school, departmental, personnel, student, and other sensitive information.
- Assist with school meetings and events, recruitment activities, outreach, and special projects.
- Drive college vehicles during field activities.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Perform other related duties consistent with the role and department needs.
Credentials and Experience:
- Prior experience providing administrative, clerical, or office support, preferably in an academic or professional environment preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite productivity software, including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and calendar applications.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with social media platforms.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in preparing documents, maintaining records, and processing administrative information.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Patience, professionalism, dependability, and a demonstrated commitment to student success.
- Ability to foster an inclusive learning environment that respects students from diverse backgrounds and levels of experience.
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing activities, expectations, and responsibilities.
