Role Summary:
The WBCR station manager is responsible for managing, maintaining , and operating the college radio station, WBCR 90.3. This role may include ensuring the streaming service is functioning properly, organizing broadcasting schedules/calendars, awareness and compliance with regulatory requirements, and a commitment to developing and nurturing a robust streaming presence. This may include live shows, concerts, sporting events, and other radio streaming activities. The ideal candidate is excited about WBCR radio on campus and is interested in its vibrant presence on campus. The WBCR Manager will work collaboratively with C-Haus, the SEAL Director, and other music forward entities on campus.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure the successful operation of the WBCR streaming service.
- Communicate effectively and promptly with the SEAL Director regarding invoices, regulatory compliance needs, radio station needs, scheduling, and staffing.
- Creatively program the station including: sports coverage, other live events on campus, music, podcasts, etc.
- Complete errands on/off campus including mail pick up and delivery.
- Monitor the WBCRmanager email account and appropriately respond to or forward emails.
- Interact with and convey a positive attitude to visitors and the campus community in person or by phone.
- Perform clerical duties in support of the station/department.
- Perform light cleaning, departmental organization, and upkeep as required.
Credentials and Experience:
- Previous experience in music broadcasting and streaming platforms preferred.
- Experience with music streaming applications and equipment preferred.
- Experience with live broadcasting preferred.
- Proficiency with: Google applications required.
- Experience with WBCR
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to understand and appreciate the mission of a residential, liberal arts college and how a college radio station fits into that mission.
- Ability to work well, in fast-paced situations, with diverse faculty, staff, students, alums, and the general public in a variety of situations.
- Ability to develop, and to contribute to, learning and work environments welcoming to people from a diverse variety of backgrounds and experiences.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including grammar, punctuation, spelling and proofreading.
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing activities, expectations, and responsibilities.
- Excellent problem solving skills, with the ability to think critically, effectively prioritize, plan, and organize multiple tasks and projects and meet set deadlines without immediate and constant supervision.
- Knowledge of customer service standards and the ability to communicate effectively with faculty, administrators, staff, students, families of students, prospective students and their families and the general public.
- Willingness to look for improvements in personal and office performance and initiate proposals which enhance the work of the office.
