Student - Field Trip Assistant - Roots of Knowledge

Join the dynamic and informative Fulton Library team as an art education assistant for the Roots of Knowledge K-12 and community education programs! The library’s Roots of Knowledge department offers engaging careers that intersect art, history, and education. Located in the Bingham Gallery, Roots of Knowledge is a sweeping stained-glass exhibit of human history and evolution. Our dynamic team of curators, docents, and administrators seek to uplift UVU’s engaged learning model through educational resources that illuminate and inspire. Host to docent-led tours, university events, and the bi-annual Speaker Series, Roots of Knowledge is both a key public service and an artistic landmark.The art education assistant supports the education coordinator in developing, organizing, and leading K-12 and community education programs. The position needs someone who is communicative, collaborative, adaptable, creative, and committed to education to support this growing education program.

• Must be able to work Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. to set up for, teach during, and clean up after the field trips, plus 6 additional hours for preparation and materials maintenance when available.
• Implement the tour and art-making curriculum by teaching K-12 field trips and other community groups.
• Set up for field trips and take down afterwards.
• Prepare materials for field trips.

• Must be a current UVU student.

• Knowledge of basic word processing and digital communication skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills in-person and through email and messaging.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Creative problem solver.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work independently and with a team.
• Ability to adapt to changing needs of diverse tour groups.
• Engaging presentation style that is adaptable for a variety of ages.
