About the job

Job Summary/Purpose:

The Construction Management / Project Management Intern supports the Owner’s Project Management (OPM) team in the planning, coordination, and execution of major power‑generation capital projects. The intern assists with construction oversight, project controls, engineering interface activities, quality assurance, and documentation to ensure the project is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with standards and contractual requirements.

This role provides hands‑on exposure to large‑scale EPC environments, field engineering practices, owner–contractor coordination, and governance processes typical for utility‑scale power generation projects.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Working in a team environment to assist in day-to-day activities, including but not limited to:

  • Construction Oversight & Field Support
  • Assist field engineers/discipline leads in monitoring daily construction activities, performing site walkdowns, and documenting observations, issues, and progress.
  • Help track construction progress against schedule and identify emerging constraints or deviations.
  • Support constructability reviews and participate in quality assurance checks.
  • Engineering & Technical Interface Support
  • Aid in reviewing engineering deliverables for completeness and alignment with project requirements and design intent.
  • Assist with processing Requests for Information (RFIs), design clarifications, and change documentation (Records of Decsions - RODs, Project Change Notices - PCNs).
  • Participate in multi‑discipline meetings between EPC, Owner’s Engineer, project engineering, and construction teams.
  • Project Controls & Reporting
  • Support the OPM team in updating dashboards, deliverable trackers, logs, and issue registers.
  • Gather field data for cost, schedule, and risk reporting; assist with variance analysis and corrective‑action follow‑up.
  • Learn to interpret and communicate key project metrics (schedule adherence, quality observations, change tracking).
  • Contract & Interface Management
  • Observe and assist in monitoring EPC contractor performance, alignment with contract terms, and adherence to specifications.
  • Help maintain interface registers and coordination logs between the Owner, EPC, OEMs, and internal SMEs.
  • Safety & Quality Support
  • Participate in safety walkdowns, toolbox meetings, and quality checks as part of the Owner’s oversight program.
  • Document safety observations and support resolution of non‑conformance reports (NCRs).
  • Documentation & Governance
  • Assist with document control, meeting minutes, construction photos, inspection records, and project OneNote entries.
  • Learn stage‑gate expectations and help prepare materials for internal reviews.

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student in an associate, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree program (full-time or part-time), pursuing a degree in the relevant field outlined above.
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8, verified through an official transcript from the previous semester.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated initiative and willingness to learn in a fast-paced project environment.
